Dansie swims the mile

Dansie swam a mile this Friday at her meet. That is 60 50m lengths. She did it in about 30 minutes and was very worn out after. She said "Dad, I don't feel very good" after the race. It was her first time. She did well. Her goggles were a bit tight for such a lengthy race. Good work Dansie.

We had a great trip at Flaming Gorge. Weather was great. Water was fantastic and nothing got broken, except a few blood vessels in an eye. Dansie Head-Butted her while tubing. It was a really fun way to end the Summer. The Girls (all of them) started School today. Hailey was ready to come home at the end of the day, and she fell asleep about 7PM, but she said that school was very fun and the first thing that she went over with me was all about the rules. Dansie looks very grown up with her new glasses. I am glad that Jadynn and Maddie are there to ride the bus with Hailey. They are very good big sisters. We put an offer on 15 acres for some horse property. We have to rezone it prior to the deal going thru, so it will take until about may. I am hoping that we can do it. I don't know how it happened, but this year we had fantastic weather and water for our entire trip. Every Morning that we went out was glassy smooth and the air temp was really great. Thanks to the global warming for making our weather so great. Just to do my share I drove a little faster and made sure we drove 4 gas/fuel guzzlers during the trip.

We stayed at Arch Dam Campground, which was very nice. I really enjoyed chatting and sitting around the campfire. The kids seemed to have a really good time as well. They always love playing with all the cousins. We took the little folding boat our with us and they had a good time playing on that and the tube that was anchored out as an island. We are getting to have a lot of people and sadly we may need to split it up to separate Copelan/Hardy Family trips unless someone else acquires a motorized watercraft.

We got to see who was the best liar. Way to go Shane. We also learned some words that only Bruce would know. We had skits one night and Nathan Gibson was the star of the show with his roll as Mario. He even saved the princess. Emma Lee Hardy played a mean fiddle and was very impressive. We also got a reenactment of the Al Hardy AM Scripture reading time. I think that it was a bit skewed. I am the one who had water thrown on them all the time, not Jeanne, and when I had to stomp, I jumped much higher. The Hancey's had a fantastic Bell choir. We got to see the "other side" of Shane as Mr. JC Penney. We heard a lot of stool/urine experiences that have people retching still. It was fun to spend time with the J. B. Hardy's and the Hardy/Bairds as they live far far away. They both have cute kids and it was really fun to get to know them a bit more. We spent a day on the Green River and a proud father swam the rapids with Jadynn. She was rather brave. Good Job Jady-rae!

We had the fine experience talking to the very informative and thorough Utah Fish Cops. Kevin got to float out in the lake alone whilst they talked to us about safety, orange flag waving, whistle blowing and throwable cushion availability. What nice fellows. Brooks even got a haircut from Aunt Allisa. We were glad that the Pigs did not keep the Nathan Family away entirely. We wish them happy Piggy showing and hope that they didn't get too fat while you were away. Thanks to all that came and participated. It was fun to see you all.

This weekend we had a house full of family for Jadynn's baptism. All of my family came to Casper so we decided to get family pictures taken down at the river. Here is Brooks (9 months) Jadynn (8yrs.) Hailey (4yrs.) Maddie (5yrs.) and Dansie (12yrs.)

We actually got one with everyone looking and smiling. It was a miracle!

The Disney Lessons

So I came to a realization these last two days as we sat as a family to eat dinner. The Realization is that I am teaching my children nothing and that it really does take a village to raise a child, but it is really a village at disney land or somewhere in the Wonderful World of Disney.

Brooks got this annoying singing toy that should be outlawed for the mere fact that it can cause unexplained rage to appear in the most sane of people. Most Christmas noise-toys fall into this category. I really think that this is what Al Qaeda must use to train the idiots who are so mad at the western world that they strap on a PETN Chastity Belt and try to blow stuff up.

Anyways... Brooks got this toy that sings about the Zoo, animals that you can see there and temperatures that each likes and stuff like that. I was trying to sing the mutant music at dinner and the kids that I have who love to prove their dad wrong were proving their dad wrong about the lyrics, so I thought that I would get back at them and quiz them about habitat of Lions vs. Tigers etc. Somehow we got on the subject of the jungle and Hailey pipes up that bears live in the jungle. I kindly told her that bears did not live in the jungle. Of a sudden the little 4yr old know-it-all runs from the table and comes back carrying a movie. What did she have in her hot little paw, The Jungle Book and Who is on the cover. You know it..... BALOO the BEAR. "See, I told you so....." she tells me with her smug little grin. How could I argue with that. If it is in a Disney Movie, it must be so. I thought it was funny until tonight. There we were sitting at the table asking maddie how to spell some words. Maddie gets sick of the quiz session and so dad turns to Jadynn. "Hey Little Smart Girl", I say Can you spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. She begins to try to spell that hideously long not really a word, word and away runs the smallest girl who suddenly sprints back holding Movie #2 in her hand and handing it to Jadynn, says, "Here Jadynn, use this, it will help you." At this point I knew that it is not really "Everything I know, I learned in Kindergarten", but Everything my kids know, they learned from a Disney Movie...... GREAT> Hopefully they all don't all run off to be a warrior princess, or run away from home to seek a whole new world or run around all night in glass shoes, sneaking back to their bedroom at the crack of midnight having fallen in love with some shmo that dances fancy and they don't even talk enough to get their names exchanged, and then she marries him lickity split, but I really have no say in such things so I guess that we will just have to see.......

Here is a little video of our weekend fun. We went out on Saturday with most of the Copelans and Allisa AJ and kids and Bauer, Dani, Gma and Gpa Hardy. We had a great day and then Monday came and was sunny for a few hours and it was a great time.

Some of the not so fun stuff was: We had a transmission break on the FJ, Bren smashed his face on the 4-wheeler. A wheel fell off Matt Kjars 4 wheeler. A shock broke on the RZR. I rolled the RZR with Hailey buckled in next to me when the shock broke. Jackson Kjar and Jadynn crashed not 15 minutes after we arrived and the 4wheeler that Jackson was riding flipped. It was a very exciting time.but on the bright side: No Deaths and No Permanent Injuries, except for the Battle Scar under Brens Nose. Maddie was very excited about having her birthday party out at the Dunes..... when we wished her happy birthday in the morning before heading out she told us that she really wouldn't be 5 until we were out at the Dunes. So we headed out and had a little party with presents and cake and she was officially 5. It was very fun to see all the family and hang out with our good friends the Kjars. The kids all had a great day. I had fun as well......

Spring Waterfall Trip

We took a walk to the waterfall. The Girls needed a little energy release. It was a fun little walk. We got the FJ out and took er for a spin. Dansie did well at her recent track Day. She was in the Softball Throw and took 1st with a throw of 66' 4". She did well in the 200M and the 4x50 relay taking 2nd in both. She also did the 100 hurdles and took 5th. I think that it was the new shoes. She ran like the wind and jumped higher and was happy. Jadynn is her happy self doing well. Maddie and Hailey have their graduation from Pre-School next week. Maddie is ready to start Kindergarten next year. We have a fun Summer planned. We keeping the tradition of the Sand Dunes over Memorial Day. We are headed to Lake Powell the end of June for a week on a 70' Houseboat. We are going on a river trip down La Dore thanks to Allisa's good luck draw. We are going into Shoshoni Lake over the 4th weekend and maybe another time and then we are camping in August at Flaming Gorge.

Brooks had a bath at home. Kim and he are getting along very well. They are not fighting about getting up at night and I am getting some sleep. That is the beauty of the mom as a source of nourishment. She gets to bond at midnight. I really should be jealous of all that one on one time she has with him, but I am trying to be a gentleman. Here is a little Video of the Prebirth, At-birth and After-birthing of the boy. He is a very special addition to our family. All of the kids are excited to have him here. I think that Kims ribs are especially happy to have the Little Kicker out. I was a little emotional during his birth, no real tears, but I had to hold them back. It was fun to see him come to us. It was a little unexpected to have a child now or to have a Male Child, but we are very blessed to have an addition to our family. I think that you could not ask for a more mothered child. His sisters will love him. I wish that Grandma Carter was here to see his Red hair, she would be very excited. I know that it was a bit of a surprise to us. I had been feeling that it might be red. What a fun time for us.

Brooks Alan Hardy is Born

Brooks Alan Hardy is born. At 7:48 on 4/30/2009, a beautiful Red Headed Baby Boy was born into our family. We are very excited to have him here with us. He is doing very well. Kim did very well also. She did have to receive a blood transfusion because she was a bit anemic. We had 4 names going into it. Brooks, Crew, Seth, and Corbin. Brooks won, though it was not very democratic. Most of the Copelans Present were voting for Seth. Dansie, Jadynn, Maddie wanted Seth. Hailey wanted Crew, but Dad wanted Brooks. I had decided a few days ago that if he was born with Red Hair that Brooks would fit the bill. It turned out to be Red, so any of the rest of you can use Seth. He was 8 lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long. His head diameter was 14 1/2 inches. Here are a few photos to take a peek at.......

Since February we have been working hard to frame and finish the basement and then we moved the big girls down in their rooms. Our plan was to rip out the carpet upstairs and paint the three rooms upstairs before we had the carpet laid. It was a race to the finish, but it has all worked out. We have the babys room painted and the changing table done, but we are waiting for the Crib They are not going to ship that until the middle of May. It will probably work out ok since he will probably sleep with us in the pack and play for a while whilst his mother is feeding him. We are really hoping that the Ultrasound is correct or a little girl is going to really have to love Blue. That Dark Blue below the Chair rail was a difficult color to paint. Took about 5 coats. The girls all slept in their own rooms last night. I thought that Hailey would not make it all night. She has been on the floor of our room for the last 2 weeks because of the all the construction going on, but she made it. I also was a bit worried that she would fall out of bed since she has been in a trundle bed for a while, but nope. All is well..... We are closer to having the house where we want it but I am tired of working on it and when I finish the bathroom downstairs, we may take a summer break and just play a bit......

I have not been very good about doing this. I have been busy getting the basement done and getting ready for the new baby. Kim is going to have a c-section in 18 days. We are very excited. Everything has gone well thus far. She is doing well. I finally got the FJ. I went down to Moab for Easter Jeep Safari and picked it up. I think the builders were more than happy to be rid of it. It ran great. I think that I may add a few creature comforts like 110V plug, Cigarrete lighter plug and an interior light. I also need to hook up the heated seats and the heater. I am not certain why they did not do this, but they did not. I have a little tile to do in the bathroom downstairs and some painting to do. We have to add cabinetry to Kims new craft room. The girls really like to play down there. We put in a little play room with a castle that we have cultured stone on the outside and and loft with a slide. The slide is a tad steep and sends the littler ones careening into the wall. I guess that it is our way of toughening them up.

Bren came up with an idea to add some artwork to our homes for less than it may cost for professional photos. We shall see if we can come up with any that are worth hanging up. I have been trying to think of good things to photograph, and decided to go outside this morning and take a few just for fun. The colors are really great right now. I had a fun time. They are not that great , but I do enjoy the colors of a few of them and Jadynn was more than happy to have her photo taken a few times. The photo of Crazy Hair Hailey (her Indian name) was taken a while ago, but I thought that it was funny and put it on anyway. We have to submit a color landscape, color of a person/persons and a black/white of whatever you fancy by Dec. 25th. The winner of each category takes home a great prize. Should be a fun contest. I am excited to try my hand at a few winter photos.

Fall Family Photos

The Sun was setting and we hurriedly dressed ourselves in some sort of fall colors. It has been some time since we have attempted to take any family photos. The beautiful colors that we have been seeing lately inspired us to give it a shot. The snow melted and left us with some gorgeous reds and oranges. We are lucky to have some pretty places right here close to us and we only had to drive down the road a bit to find a rock big enough to seat us all. It actually turned out to be a fun time. There were a few tears, but we didn't even have to yell. There were lots of smiles and a few crazy faces. When you are surrounded by 5 beautiful girls, it is hard to take a bad photo. We are headed to Florida a week from today. We are excited to see what Walt Disney has in store for us there. I am hoping to get some good photo ops at the beach and at the park.

What we did this summer

I thought that I would add a little ditty about the summer. It started a little late this year, but has seemed to last for quite a while. It has been a beautiful summer and we have spent most of our time on the water. Kim got a great tan and was looking like she came from some place warm. We started the summer with Kims family in Alta Wyoming at a cabin in June. We had a great time up there hanging out and playing horse shoes. We headed over to Yellowstone and had a one day tour. Most every other weekend was spent out on the water. One of my favorite activities to do as a family is rafting. We took our new raft for 3 days on the Green RIver. We started at the gates of Ladore in Colorado and ended in Dinosaur Monument in Vernal Utah. At the start of the trip a fella looked at our group of 14 kids and 11 adults and told us that we were crazy, but I felt that it was one of the most fun trips that we have taken. We had a pirate day where we had a treasure hunt and I was the pirate king. It was a lot of fun. We boated a bit close to home at Alcova and Glendo Reservoir. We had a lot of fun with friends there. We had a few trips up to Flaming Gorge with family. It was a great time. We all tried a lot of new things. Dansie finally started waterskiing at the end of the summer and did a great time. I tried all summer to jump the wake. This is not that exciting, but I had a lot of fun. It just snowed here and I was not ready for fall to turn into winter. We have not resupplied the pellets and I really needed to have a fire to go with our hot chocolate FHE treat. Oh well......Here comes the snow and wind....

Hunt 2008

Last year I took the hunting year off. I do not know why. Dad has really beeen honing his shooting skills with his sweet .270 Winchester. He really did a great job teaching us young punks how to shoot. It was really fun to spend some time with him. I think that I am cursed to only kill the female ungulate. I was able to shoot a cow elk at 44o yds. but I cannot shoot a deer at 300 yds. I am glad that soccer is finally over. Dansies team won the championship game for the 3rd season in a row. She must be good luck. I was proud of her. When she is really hustling, she is really talented. It is fun to see her improve. I still do not know much about the FJ. I do know that progress is slow, but I think that it should be done about Mid December. It was supposed to be done this month, but oh well. It snowed about 1.5' this weekend and feels like we should be singing Christmas songs. I was singing one on the the way home to the Twins blessing but it felt really funny. Dansie and I have been reading the Storm Testament Series. I can see why I enjoyed them as a kid. It is fun. Kim is pregnant. She is due some time in May and according to the Chinese Lunar Gender Calendar, It Should be a BOY. Kim thinks that this is not possible, but I think that a little lad is on his way. We shall see.

First Boating of the Summer

Here are a few photos that the dealer took of us. We took our boat out on Saturday and tried to sink it. The heater core had been frozen from not winterizing it correctly, then sending it up from Abilene TX to Casper WY. The Bilge Pump was not working quite right and so it was filling up and not draining that well. We made it a short trip to make certain that we stayed afloat. I also found that I need to get a tool kit together with a few fittings for it for the next trip out in case we have some other type of incident. It ran very well. We all had a great time. I just wish that we could have spent a bit more time out on the water. I was glad that the owner of the shop was with us to give us a little tutorial on all the mechanics of the boat. Kim drove it a bit and actually was the one to pull it up on the trailer. She did a stellar job and parked it right in the middle. I am excited to slip the wet suit on and give it a try.

We celebrated my Birthday yesterday. We had a great time. I got some really cool stuff from my family. They are really nice to me. I got a new guitar. It is a Gibson SJ-200 and it sounds phenomenal. Kim is a wonderful person and I couldn't ask for a more beautiful, wonderful, loving wife than her. Beckett sent me a "I am a fan of Beckett shirt" and I would like you to note the shirt that I chose for Orange Crushes Maiden Voyage. Way to go Beckett, You are a Stud.

I think that the girls are excited to have school finish and get to the summer vacationing. Our trampoline had a little run-in with the Wyoming wind and I think that the wind won almost bending it in half. I guess that is why people take the netting off of it for the winter. We sort of got is working again and the girls have been out there every day ever since. They love to jump, hurt each other, hit each other and cry and scream a lot. At least it is outside.

Maddie the Mountain Man

This is a little clip from Maddies Program. She started preschool very shy, but really enjoyed all her friends and the teachers she met there. She is a very cute little mountain man. The wind has died down in Casper these last few weeks and it is very welcome.

We took our boat out for a spin and it was a little leaky. The heater core had frozen at some time and water was pouring out of it filling up the boat. The bilge pump wasn't working very well so it was a losing battle. We had fun for the hour we were out on the water. I was a bit nervous about driving it, but I didn't even crash it.

I don't know what is going on. I was thinking of just retrieving all the parts and put them in some sort of shadow box. What do you think. Just a memory of what could have been.

The youth in the ward were supposed to do a dance for their parents. It was supposed to be a service project for them. It ended up being "Lets let the leaders do everything. We had a photo booth and dressed everyone up as pirates. We have some pretty scary pirates. Aarrrrrggggg....

New Home for the FJ

Well the FJ has turned into quite the ordeal. I retrieved it from Hibernation and am hoping now that it is Spring, it will get worked on. I ripped it away from Robs and Dad and I loaded up the ole trailer and hauled all the parts down to Ben Hanks Racing in Sandy. They have a sweet shop and I am really excited about the work they do. They say about 6 weeks so we shall see. The Axles and some other parts may have it postponed a bit, but I am hoping that it goes much more quickly. They did find a home for it in the shop, so it is looking better as far as progressing. Hopefully I will be able to show some progress in a few weeks. I guess it gives me time to work on Allisa's Kitchen. That should be a lot of fun to see it come together. Hopefully updates will be forthcoming. I bought those tires BFG Mud Terrain KM2's (note the similarity to BFG Krawlers) 37x12.5 R17 I am getting Walker Evans Bead Locks and I just ordered a new T-case 4.3:1 so it should be a great crawler. I am planning on using some sort of 9" rearend with a True Hi9 gears and Dana 60 Knuckles. Should be really sweet.......

Naming a Boat

We recently have purchased a "Help our Family Stay TOGETHER" Toy. At least that is the line that we got at the boat shop. I purchased a Tangerine and White 2008 Tige RZ2. Check out the link http://www.tige.com/models_rz2.php and you can take a look at that line. It is a 22' Wakeboarding boat. I really want to spend most of the sunny summer weekends Wakesurfing behind it. I am very excited about it and think that we will never have a fight or any confulgration in the Hardy Home again because of its presence. This must be after it is parked in the drive, cuz we haven't picked it up yet and we did have a little tiff over some spilled chips. I know that the zionistic life is on its way, we are waiting patiently for the weather to warm slightly and no soccer games to interfere with our soon to be boating life.

I thought that it would be really fun to give the boat a name as it would soon be leading to such peace and harmony. I was mistaken in assuming that this would be a fun activity. It has lead to Dad VS. the Girls in giving this sweet ride a name that could fit on the side of the hull.

So far the names are:

"Super Fast Super Cool Orange Tiger Boat"

"Super Fast Really Cool Orange Tiger Boat"

and many more that are longer and much more descriptive of how fast and how cool the Orange Boat is.

I liked Maddies Idea, but the others objected. She proposed "August Rush" (Having just seen the show) I recommended "Summer Rush", but was met with much consternation and defiance.

I have decided the boat has a given name and "Who are we to change it?" So it will remain an RZ2. Oh Well........

Photographing your own kids

So I often have a wild hair and try to take some cute photos of the girls. It tends to be a bit frustrating and often leads to about 300-400 shots with maybe 1 or 2 that turn out ok. I recently purchased some new studio flashes and decided to try them out a bit. Note that they were not really prepped for such photos (ie, Hailey is just in a diaper and a bit of straggly hair on all 4). We did it anyway and it was a bit difficult. Jadynn almost cried and the rest just looked at her wondering, but I have decided that this is a great representation of each of their personalities and age. I love this last photo. Haileys eyes just really give her personality away. She is stubborn, not as much as Maddie, but she really has a talent with goofy looks and sneers. She is a real cutey. Jadynn is our Manic/Depressant child and this group of photos was taken in approximately a 2 minute interval and you can see the changes from almost tears to a large grin (by the way, they are not in the correct order so just believe me). Dansie is the stalwart 1st child that of whom, perfection is expected and upon whom the higher standards are placed so her siblings will see her as a wonderful example. Maddie is just there, making sure that you can see her, but not concerned with all the glamour that her older siblings desire. I couldn't get them to smile very well, so I, with all my Hardy gene's "Let's make a game out of it techniques" decided to ask for a mad, sad, goofy, suprised and whatever else I could think of to stop Jadynn from crying and get them all to give me the perfect natural smile and not some forced head tilted "Look Dad, I'm a princess" Smile. You can plainly see, this did not work and oh well, I have enjoyed looking at the pics. They make me smile. There they all are, just like I know them.

As I was reading my entry about tagging, I started to doubt what I had initially written "that I wished that my lightsaber was green" and changed it to "I wished that I had not dropped my Light Saber" (see comment below) I was unsure as to what my lightsaber color really was, so I did a little reading and found a great deal on the fabrication of lightsabers and what the different colors represented. Blue is a color of a Jedi that is most concerned about sword play and very skilled at this thusly Darth Vaders that was taken from him by Obi Won was blue then Vader got a Red one(sign of the sith-cause they cannot have a pure crystal(that which gives the saber its color) green or blue). The sith have Red which is not a natural crystal, but a fabricated one with the dark force. Luke then after getting his arm cut off and losing His fathers saber (a Blue One) makes a green one using hidden documents and a kiln found in Obi Wons House on Tattouine. He also had some sort of kiln there. It is used to change the crystals property or something like that. He made a green one to because he was more focused on the force than swordplay. Oh there is so much more for those who desire it. Wikipedia will educate you on the lightsaber. Good Luck..........

Beckett came to WY

Another Thanksgiving is come and gone and now we are on the way to Good Ole End of Tax Season..... AKA Christmas/New Years. Jeanne and Bruce were out from the Eastern US. We were very glad to see them and their new son Beckett. He is certainly a cute boy. I was surprised and very happy that the Nathans did not bring some dreadful South Western Wyoming disease with them. Sydney certainly is growing up and is such a sweet and wonderful girl. A.J. was here so I got my fill of College Football for the year. Bruce and I did not get into any philosophical discussions. The roll recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_37532.html was a keeper and we brined the Turkey that looked a little black, but was very succulent underneath. The meal was terrific, not for the food so much, but for the company. It was a Thanksgiving to remember. I knew that we could not make it through Thanksgiving dinner without the "What are you most thankful for" game. Jeanne was there you know. I heard a lot of great things that people were thankful for. My Favorite was Dani. She was thankful that we have the gospel in our lives and can live for all eternity as a family. This weekend was one of those times when it all comes together and you really have a great time as a family. I was sitting here tonight and was looking at all of my girls sprawled out on the sectional. Kim was on the end in the Chaise Lounge portion looking very pretty and happy. I do not think that I could ask for anything better. What a great group of girls. I often get asked about the lack of Testosterone in the family. I usually come up with some sort of quip and let it rest, but to tell you the truth, I am happy as a clam in a good chowder to have the family that I do. A man in our ward has recently returned to activity (1 year now) and today in Sunday School made a comment. He said that his home life has been significantly blessed during the last year because of the peace the gospel brings. He said that now when he is there, it feels like a home. He grew up in the church in a very active family, fell away and lost his testimony. It was not until he realized that his family would not survive that he came back. His testimony today was very strong and I know that he has received many blessings for his faithfulness. I am very thankful this time of year that I had goodly parents that tried their best to show us the way. I am grateful to them for helping us diligently study the gospel message every day. I am grateful that they helped us learn that prayer is the only way to communicate with Heavenly Father. I know that my posterity will be blessed because of the strength that they have brought to me. Thanks Mom and Dad. You two have really tried hard to live what you know.

Hawaii Trip October 2007

One of the things that I, as a husband, fail at is spending time alone with my sweet wife. I tried to rectify this and took Kim to Hawaii for a week. We spent a couple of days on the Big Island and got to take a couple hot sweaty hikes. I think that if Kim knew prior to the proposal how many long walking adventures that I would force her to go on, she might have declined. We got to see the guts of a Volcano (1959 eruption) and hike across the crater floor. It was just a bunch of lava, but I found it fascinating. We really wanted to see a lava flow but that is reserved only for rich and famous who take the helicopter tour. We kept seeing signs warning us of the crossing of the elusive Nene (state bird of Hawaii) and we kept our eyes peeled, but only saw Wild Turkeys, Chickens and some other weird looking bird. We took a grueling hike down to the supposed site where Captain Cook perished. The snorkeling in that bay was spectacular and though Jeanne promised us Dolphins, we did not see them. We were on Oahu for the remaining days and had a very fun time at the Polynesian Cultural Center and at the Laie Temple. We snorkled in Hanuama Bay. We all saw a big old Sea Turtle. I think that he may have been the dude on Nemo. He seemed to wink at me and give me a high five. I went Fly Fishing for Bone fish and was lucky enough to get one. Kim and I talked and decided that we would like to go back with the kids when they are a little older and would enjoy swimming, hiking, sea kayaking, snorkeling/scuba etc. After hiking around in the humidity and long grass and driving around the island in only a few hours, I decided that I would never like to live on one of those large volcanic rocks. It is a fun place to vacation, but it seemed so small and isolated. I would long for the wide open spaces. I am happy that we are back in Wyoming. Casper has been great to us so far, and I think that we are going to have a great life here. After seeing all of those hot boys at the PCC, Kim has mandated that if I ever want to take off my shirt again, I had to get some rock hard abs. I have thusly decided to do as Peyton Manning has suggested and just buy a bigger shirt. I keep telling her that there are abs under my love paunch. They don't want to come out cuz they are warm and cozy where they are. We were really happy to get back and relieve Mom of her Kid Duty. I figure she has paid her dues for some time. We owe her mucho for her kindness. Thanks Mom. You are a great lady. When I returned my FJ was stripped and ready for transport thanks to Dad. You are a great man and wonderful example to me and my kids. Thanks Dad. Now that I have included a mushy section, I leave you now.

Trip to Yellowstone Summer 2007

Yellowstone 2007

We all had a really great time seeing Yellowstone park this summer. We spent a night and day in Cody going to the Buffalo Bill Historic Museum. I think that I liked it most. The kids enjoyed the small pool that was at the cabins where we stayed. Kim did a great job finding our accommodations. It is a fun place to visit. We camped both nights that we were in the park. I think that Old Faithful and that geyser basin was what the kids enjoyed the most. We saw a lot of Buffalo, a coyote that everyone said was a wolf. We got the picture home and magnified it on the computer and sure enough it was a coyote. It was jumping around too much for a wolf to me. We saw a sow Grizzly with 4 cubs. That was really fun. The Elk were much to tame to be cool. We went on a short walk to see a hot spring and when we came back the buffalo had overrun the road. All the Asian tourists walked right up in the midst of them to try to get photos, but we opted to walk around. It was a fun site to see as a big bull chased one of them down a path a bit. It did rain every day, but we had a great time and got to try out our new 75 lb. family tent. It worked very well. Family is what life is all about. It is funny how at times the people that mean the most to us take the brunt of our frustrations and criticism. My family is great. The kids are really fun. They also know how to make a lot of noise. I think that they get that side from Kim. I had only been to Yellowstone as a child one time and did not come away from that trip that it was a big Caldera. It is a very interesting place. My only wish is that the speed limit would go up a little , Maybe 50......

Politics (What you shouldn't talk about)

This is a subject that I probably should shy away from because I am a very conservative guy and I don't want to get into any family feuds with some others of the family, but I think that the link that Allisa sent is very interesting. http://www.wqad.com/Global/link.asp?L=259460 I did match up with the two that I thought that I would Mitt Romney(47 pts) and Duncan Hunter (46pts). In the debates, those two seem to agree with my views on the world best. Though Mitt is LDS, I think that in some ways, I like Duncan Hunter a bit more. Hunter doesn't seem to have a chance and Mitt seems to be gaining a little ground in the Religious Right. I did not think that this would happen and although most in this camp are very uneducated about Mormons and our true beliefs, I thought that most of the Christian groups would back others. I think that most of them would back Hunter if he had a chance. I really have found that the War Chapters in Alma and Helamen have helped me agree with the current administration about terrorism and keeping up the fight. It makes sense to me how secret combinations can be so slippery and difficult to eradicate. I understand why Moroni, having seen our day, would include those chapters there.
I will have to say that I am a bit nervous about this election season. I do believe that if we end up with H. Clinton that we are going to have a mess. Hillary care would probably never pass through Congress, but if we stay with this Democratic Congress trying to raise taxes and provide everything for everyone, I believe that the economy will suffer. If I were to choose a liberal candidate that has a chance, I would hope for Mr. Obama. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out in the primaries. I do not know how long this divide between the Republican and Democratic party has been separated by the Religious vs Non-religious platforms, but it sure does seem to be growing wider. The constitution certainly seems to be getting ripped apart in the defense of everything that the founding fathers would not seem to agree with. Groups like the ACLU seem to be trying to get rid of God in everything that we, as a nation, have valued as important since the foundation of the US. It is very difficult to watch happen.
For a few years now, I wondered how the world would get so bad that we would have the wars large enough to fit into what is described at the last days where Christ would have to liberate the Jewish people from attacks on all sides. It is becoming more clear how that could happen Russia is backing Iran, Iran is trying to build a Nuclear bomb, they have a crazy leader that denies the Holocaust, and now the revelation that Syria was building a secret Nuclear program. It is looking a lot scarier over there. The attack on Israel seems as if it is imminent.

Start of the End

Today I was convinced to start a blog. I do not know if it will last, but I am going to give it a try. I am in a quandry these days. I have been trying to come up with a color for the 1975 FJ40 that I am building. I am thinking about Black as is seen there in the photo, but the green that it originally came with is also a color that I fancy and it would not show the scratches quite as much. Dad feels that the Yellow of the new Toyota FJ Cruiser is the bomb, but I am not quite convinced. It seems that Dad has a bit of an eye for wild colors. I seem to be a bit more conservative. The FJ is down in SLC at Robs shop getting the Axles, Suspension, Seats, Gas Tank, Roll Bar, Tires and Body Mods. It should be really fun. Mom has got me all worried now, cause she called and told me that she has been worrying about my finances and my debt. Now, although this is an affordable project for me, I am wondering if I should finish it now, though I am going to have a lot of debt for at least 5-7 years with the business debt, etc and would have to wait quite a while to get it all done. Most who know me, know that I am not very good at waiting.

Kim and I just returned from a fun trip to Hawaii. I will try to post a few pictures later.
